Lunae, as you are standing in the clearing you too hear the bird songs die away, and realize something is coming. Sadly, due to the rate of speed that this thing is traveling at, you could only manage to draw your weapon as it comes into the clearing. It is then that you see the creature is a large nasty wolf.
Well, that's the first impression you get anyway. The creature is huge--6 feet at the shoulder--with shaggy grey fur. Patches of brown and black filter through, as well as a lone streak of deep red on the left side, but the impression you get is of a large and unkempt grey ball. With fangs, of course. The legs are thin--albeit shaggy--similar to a dog's legs, but the paws themselves are similar to the large cats: thick, soft, and with sharp claws. The tail appears normal, except it is substantially larger than on any dog you've ever seen. The tail could easily wrap itself around the body, and looks agile enough to be capable of doing so. The head is very wolf-like in appearance. The creature shambles into the clearing clumsily, as if unsteady or dizzy, but is remarkably quick. It does appear very angry about something, and when it notices you it advances in a shambling run, snarling and baring its fangs.
Unfortunately, upon a quick analysis you realize that the fur and hide are thick enough that you won't be able to just cut through. You also gather some other important information from sounds coming from the forest. For one thing, this creature appears to be part of a pack, and judging from the distant barking you estimate that more 'friends' will be arriving soon.
