Lunae, this wolf has clearly dealt with human weapons before. He reads your attack, and jerks his head violently upwards and to the left in an effort to dodge. You manage to give his fur a good haircut, but your blade misses anything vital. Because of the thick matting it would be difficult to tell if you drew blood at all.

However, the head-jerk was too sudden and violent for him to recover from easily. He stumbles slightly, but manages to catch himself with his free paw. This does give you a clear opening, though. It's up to you to decide to take it.
