• 'Then you have forgotten, or I am mistaken in recognizing you.' The Alpha wolf stares at Lunae for a long time. For a while, he says nothing, and all of the other wolves turn to look at him. When he does speak, his words ring to all within the clearing. While the other humans ((and elves, of course)) are a bit surprised by hearing a voice in their head, they find it easy to comprehend, 'Hear me, destroyers of trees, the fire taming wretches of the earth! You take your tools and slaughter my brothers, and today I have brought judgement. Judgement for my ancestors, and judgement for the forest itself. Too long have we suffered you, and you reward us with a measure of hate. Speak in your defense, or hear your judgement now!'   • Chaos realized his stuggle against such a lagre beast was futile, so he didn't bother. He did jerk suddenly when the voice resounded, though. When the message was finished, he gently and slowly stood up. Speaking aloud (and hoping the wolf-thing would understand) he replies, "What re you talking about? We, the Colony of Carnerik, have never attacked this forest! We treat it with respect, as we treat all living things. True, we hunt the animals, perhaps more than necessary, but do you really mean to condemn us for that? It is ludicrous to think that! What have we done to you?" Chaos was trying to sound reasonable, but the concept of a four-legged monster with teeth, claws, a freaky tail, and scary intelligence bothered him a lot. -- Chaos, 16:58:41 10/12/04 Tue
    • As soon as the tiger heard the alpha wolf's voice again he knew his time was up. He turned to face the alpha wolf waiting to hear its reply to Chaos. When he turned he intentionally stepped clear of the sword. He hoped this scene would not come to bloodshed but he could see both sides of this argument and knew that if the matter came to fighting he knew he could only pick one side. Either that of his animal bretheren who only fought to protect their homes or on the side of the humans (those he had promised to protect) who fought agaist false accusations. The wolves were trying to blame the sins of a few humans (elves included) on those who stood here, perhaps even the whole race. If this conflict wasn't resolved here what would the wolves do then? • Kia lowered her sword when the voice sounded in her ears. "Is it fair to punish anyone for a crime that they didn't commit?" she asked "I do not claim that our races are perfect.   • "This is hardly fair," Terra speaks out loud, a rare occurance for her, "You're going to punish us? I won't accept it. I'm not putting up with this judgement stuff. Who made you judge?     • One of the uninjured quietly comes to stand inbetween Terra and his beloved leader. Speaking softly, but still allowing all open minds to hear, he chastises Terra, 'He was not speaking to you, elf. While we may desire the destruction of all humans, that is not out intent here. Besides, we've heard your argument. Now we wait for the pole-wielder to speak---' the wolf loks up suddenly, staring at his leader's back. • Kia breathed in deeply and sheathed her sword, the sound of steel rubbing against steel rang out in the momentary silence. She had something to say but after the outburst of the last wolf she decided to wait for the 'pole-wielder' to say what they needed to. (NT) -- Kia, 14:56:04 10/13/04 Wed
• Lunae sits there for a few seconds in deep thought. "Judgement, huh? You ask me if I will accept this judgment that you wish to pass, yet you've failed to inform me what this judgment is. Now isn't it only fair that one knows ones judgment before one acquiesces to it? I believe so. So in that case I must understand the terms before I will be able to give you such answer." • Fenvir almost smiles, ‘Very well. The judgement is this: You, and all the others here who accept, will aid us in one task and one task alone. Succeed, and we shall consider it repentance of this colony. Fail...' his eyes glint, ‘and there shall no longer be a colony. The judgement is a war.' While he spoke, the images in his mind showed that bloodshed wasn't what he desired, but it also stated quite clearly that he was capable. ‘Of course, those who do not accept our task will be free to return into their caves. There they may cower and wait for their own destruction to descend upon them. If you, Creselin Lunae, choose not to accept, then we consider it a failure here and now.' The other wolves tense, and those who were wounded suddenly look a lot more hostile than they did before. Still, their weakness had been discovered. A fight was not an impossibility. • Lunae replies assertively, "Very well. I'll help you with your task. That sounds fair enough to me. So what do you desire to be done?" A slight smile shimmers on her face. • Fenvir truly grins now, 'A wise choice. I understand you humans comprehend the meaning of a pack, and you like traveling together, correct? I shall not allow any of you further until I know who shall stay and who shall return to their precious colony.' OOC: TRANSLATION: If you want your character to role-play elsewhere, or if you don't want to get involved in an unrewarding quest that will take a while and could be lethal, kindly have your character recall that they left the stove on and head back.   • Chaos smiles and retrieves his sword. He had remembered his boots at the last moment, and was aching to try them out. True, they had ugly waxy spots, but they fit well and he couldn't wait for a decent chance to watch 'em fly. "Alright, why not? I'll let my wounds heal later. • Grumbling and sour-faced, Lialye stumbles into the clearing, completely unaware of everything that's occured this last little bit. She'd been watching too hard in case that tiger - or other such creatures - came leaping out of the bushes to attack, and in her over-zealousness she had gotten herself lost, for a while, until she somehow managed to find the path the others had followed and ended up arriving just now with her absolutely marvelous sense of timing.     • Chaos turns when she arrives, evidently surprised, "Lialye! You came! You missed a fantastic fight, you know. Bloody good brawl. Now we're going to follow these nice beasts and they're going to send us on a life-threatening journey. AND---" At this Chaos laughs slightly, "If we DON'T go, they're going to start a war with Carnerik! Isn't it great? I can finally become a Hero of Carnerik!" • Fenvir, the large alpha, turns to look at the newcomer, 'If humans continue to appear like this, it will become complicated.' his thoughts sound midly amused, 'but I find it curious how you creatures can find each other like this. You had no sight nor smell, yet you found your way here. How...curious. • Lialye gives Chaos an entirely unamused look, then jumps slightly as the alpha wolf speaks. Looking around in confusion, she finally realizes that it was the large alpha wolf that had...'spoken'. She stares at the alpha for a moment, then at Chaos, then back at the wolf with narrowed eyes. "You're joking," she states flatly, but by the looks on the faces of everyone assembled she realizes that no, they're not joking. She turns to Chaos. "You aren't recovered," she says cooly. "I take it you're still going, however, so I suppose I'll have to come along and try to keep you from killing yourself, if possible."   • OOC: I'm sooooo sorry for not posting like I ought to. BIC: "And you are in no condition to do anything without some assistance so I guess I am accompanying you." Naverin speaks up after have had to restrap her quiver and then having everything stop and the wolf creature talking in their minds. She wasn't sure of what to make of any of this, but now that Lia showed up, Naverin feels her obligation as a friend to help her and she is all for trying to make peace and keep the Earth and nature safe. • The tiger looked at each of the humans in turn, waiting for each of them to give their consent or to decline the alpha wolf's errand. He admired their bravery. Humans were funny creatures. They had no inborn weapons such as sharp teeth or claws but they had a clever way of creating weapons out of the things of nature. They had learned to use trees, rocks and ore and minerals from the earth to their advantage. And like the alpha-wolf had said they knew how to track without smell. They had no natural armour. Their skins were easily penetrated but still they were willing to venture into the unknown and partake upon a journey, that could very well cost them their lives, all for the sake of their fellows.   • Kia was slightly surprised at the excitment in the wolf's voice. Compared the the alpha wolf it was rather happy. • Brack, Asriae, and Revin stand up immediately after their riders mount. They turn towards the river, and prepare to jump. OOC: Sorry, guys, not today. The Swamp will start tomorrow. I wish I could get ahold of some other council members! We might be able to make it s new area...As it is, The Swamp will just have to be part of the forest. • Thinking to herself about interesting this situation was, Lunae slips onto the back of the wolf. Looking around at the whole group Lunae was quite impressed with how many people had arrived and how willing they were to come. Terra and I always did crazy things like that, but I didn't think that there were this many people who enjoy getting themselves into possibly deadly situations. The more the merrier though, especially if this really does get dangerous. Sitting on Fenvir's back, Lunae tried to get herself into a postion that wouldn't be uncomfortable for him and would be at least some what comfortable for her. "Okay, I'm ready."
