Aranye nods, lodging Yael, Roger, and Qin's knowledge somewhere in her brain. Hopefully, she'll remember it when the time comes. For part of that, the time is now. "Qin's the only one, it seems, with a head start on what we'll be learning today." She nods to the apprentice, meanwhile unrolling the paper that she had brought. Zira tumbles out of it, shakes her head clear, then takes a perch on Aranye's shoulder. "We'll be learning the dolphin's anatomy." She tacks the picture of a dolphin onto the board at the front of the room. Pointing to the small hole that is placed behind the melon, she says: "That's the dolphin's nose. Now, we don't exactly call it that, because someone back on old Terra decided that dolphineer apprentices needed to learn new vocabulary.

"It's called a blowhole, which most of you probably knew already. It's shaped like a cresent moon, with the curve facing towards the back. The blowhole stays closed on it's own, unlike our noses, and are perfect for the way that they breath. The 'hole stays closed, and is opened by moving these muscles down here." Aranye takes a moment's pause, and points to the muscles that control the opening of a dolphin's blowhole. "The blowhole only opens for a small amount of time. That's why you see that spurt of air when they do open it- the air that they need to exhale has got to come out fast."
