Hiding behind one of the trees, he reaches out with his mind, calling the smallest and youngest of the deer towards the tripwire. He crosses his fingers, hoping it works.

(OOC: He's a kid and takes care of a baby gryphlet, so I think the 'no-eating' clause covers him on both counts.)
