It is extremely important for teachers to have continuous development so that they are aware of what can be incorporated into their curriculum. I do agree with what others who stated that sometimes it is important to use a "cute" lesson to capture one's interest to learn more. I had a teacher who barely new how to turn on a computer and it was taking forever for her to learn anything. After we did a unit together and she saw how wonderful technology could be in her class, she has purchased her 2nd computer and has become proficient and can't get enough of it. Once she was able to see the "connection" it peaked her interest to learn more. This is why I stated this summer that "modeling" is important.

Continuous development is always important since this is the way we all learn. That is what I like best about teaching technology - I learn more about a program by people asking questions and I have to figure out how to best solve their question.

This is not easy to make this change but taking one step forward to doing this and helping others begin to learn how to do this will make it shift.
