I think this is the crux of the matter not just for technology but for classroom practice. We are in an era when we as teachers have the opportunity to define our role more clearly than ever before. Technology has made this available. For years others have defined for educators what they were to teach and what was the most effective way to teach it. The "effective" way was not necessarily best for educational purposes but rather to futher the ends of those defining it. Our calendar is established because of agrarian needs and our classrooms are arranged based on the industrial needs of a production society. We are now in an information society which is our forte. In an ever changing world it is important that we not only practice continual improvement of our practice but also pass on to our students the skills to adapt and evaluate progress.
