I think it is very important for the district technology people to be aware of the need for a shift in professional practice. I am not sure the way to make it happen is to press it agessively.
From what I have read about those stages, it will follow if we help people where they are. I make an effort with my mentees to make my thinking about direction clear. We are focused on the students evaluation of information and research skills rather than how frequently they use the computer. I present any planning using the understanding by design format. They seem to like it, but are not jumping all over doing it themselves. I think that is fine. They tend to think on a high level about education regardless of the jargon. I am not so sure they are not alreadydoing most of what we want.
I suspect that force feeding information about practice will turn people off. When they get to a point where they need or can use the information, then it should be presented.
Right now we are thinking in terms of a project that fits our curriculum that everyone thinks the kids need.
