I found an article in the September/October issue of LibraryTalk, a professional journal for librarians. It is titled: "Faith Based Computing" and is written by Doug Johnson, a director of Media and Technology in Minnesota.

It discusses teacher attitudes toward the use of technology and makes several good points I thought applied to our Tech Mentoring program. According to Mr. Johnson, the basic tenet of "Faith Based Computing" is that the more positive the user's attitude toward technology, the better the technology works for that user. He goes on to state that in order for a program such as ours to succeed, we must be aware of the attitudes of our proteges and not just focus on their technical skills. The article offers several tips on ways to improve negative attitudes and increase tech skills.

The article is not yet available on the magazine website but can be accessed by using Power Library on our school website. Click on EBSCO and type in "Faith Based Learning" in the search box. I will mail you a copy if you are unable to find the article here.
