The article I reviewed specifically for the tech mentor group was found in Gifted Child Today (Fall 2001). The article is called “Technology and the Gifted: Focus, Facets, and the Future.” The authors find very little research examining the efficacy of technology integration in Gifted programs. Most articles are more “best practice” and focus on Internet usage, distance learning, and multimedia presentation tools. Although the article’s focus was Gifted students, the ideas apply to every student and reflects our discussions from this summer. It seems curious to me that the use of technology continues to be an afterthought in Gifted Education circles.
