[ooc: thanks, lol. the forum ID is "220676" and the password is "afrikaner", because I'm just so original. =P] ![]() Flash's gaze dropped to the ground again as an awkward silence settled on them like a blanket of newly fallen snow. He tilted his head to the side and scratched the back of his ear with a hind leg, embarassed that he'd already run out of things to say. He hadn't been here for the past couple of years, had no idea when Ice or Ash had come back or where they'd been, who else had left (to his knowledge, everyone had left, but how would he know?) and who had returned... heck, he didn't even know who was still alive. Flash felt the slightest bit of annoyance at himself for how little he knew. All he did know was that he wasn't going to leave again anytime soon. Although he hadn't had any harrowing near-death experiences, being a lone wolf without a pack was always a risky business. There was bad weather, scuffles with other lone wolves over food, packs who fought tooth and claw to defend their territory at the sight of a stranger, living off rats and rabbits and other small mammals because there were no pack members to take down larger and more substantial prey with, and a general lack of the "safety in numbers" rule. Why wasn't anyone saying anything? Flash inhaled deeply, trying to take in as many familiar scents as possible as if to reassure himself he was really there and not dreaming. Make no mistake, this was very surreal. The dawning of one fateful day resulted in everyone vanishing out of Cascade and seemingly into thin air, the land turning into a ghostly wasteland... and then, years later and as suddenly as everyone had left, they were back again, as if it had only been a dream, a nightmare one was relieved to wake up from. "Diesel and Wolvi... did they come back too?" Talk about spoiling the mood, but it was a question that had also been clawing at his insides ever since he got back. The curiosity was becoming so overwhelming he couldn't ignore it- he simply had to ask. He hadn't seen his adoptive parents since... wow, even before he'd left the Tundra himself, and, well, he missed them. |
