Served with the 62nd Maint, 628th Main Spt Co from Apr 1967 to Apr 1968 in Tech Supply. At the time that I arrived only the 149th and the 628th were at Pleiku. The 552nd and the 510th Engr came later, I think around early 1968 but don't quote me on that. Served with Mike Tudhope, Jim Jackson, Bill Van Diver; Willie Somerset and others that I can't remember. Like me you should remember the night that tet began. The searchlight on Artillery Hill and many other things. I can remember that the C.O. of the 628th was a guy by the name of Eric Estergren or something close to that. He relieved Cpt Boyd when we got the shit kicked out of us on Jun 10, 1967. All the parts vans by tech supply had a bulge in the floor from satchel charges. Two guys died that night in a bunker by tech supply. Adams and Stapleman. One of them was due to go home that very day, but he took a short so he could get an early out. I also remember a Palmer that shot up everything that night but hit nothing. One of the guys that shot a bunch of the gooks was a Sp5 by the name of Edwin Traylor. I ran into him at Ft Belvoir 24 years later by accident. We were riding in the same van going to look over some fence that needed removed.
