It's little-known because it's broadcast at 3:00am in the UK in a segment called "Up All Night" on BBC Radio 5. The programme is "Dr Karl and the Naked Scientist". You can download podcasts and listen to recent episodes here:

Dr Karl is an Australian science communicator and the host, Rhod, is a Scottish presenter. Nice combination! They try to answer science questions submitted by phone, email, Twitter etc. Click on the "science phone in" links in the box on the right of the page. Very entertaining and informative.

I'd never heard of Karl Kruszelnicki but apparently he's quite well known in Australia:

I've put this post in this thread because I'm considering phoning in a question about GPS navigation systems and other digital aids and whether they remove the intellectual challenges that help to keep our brains ticking over as we get older. Don't know if I'm willing to stay up to 3:00am to make the call though (the programme is broadcast live then made available later as podcasts).

Many of the calls come from people driving through the night; truckers etc. I love it.

BB
