I was sentence to 8 months there in the 80s, my first time ever away from my family, I was just 18, I remember being in the meat wagon going up the drive towards the borstal was so scared and didn't no were and what I was going to face, I was on allocation for a week in reception area wasn't to bad in there, after a week I was sent to Malone house which had 12 lads in a dormitory, a lot of bullies and getting beating up, had to be hard and take it, stood my ground a few times, wasn't happy times, nice to get out of there augest 23th never forget the day, just before I left, the lads had to throw a blanket over me and beat me, was told to keep your head down and take it so I did just new I was going home that day. change me a lot over the years, happy married now with a lovely son. never forget tho. dave.
