Subject: Well, I just felt like I had to share this recipe with all of you girls. I made this cake for Connor's birthday celebration yesterday and it was a smash hit! It's another of those secret family recipes that have been passed down through my family for years. We are a mulit-generational non-cooking family! HA! Please follow the instructions carefully and your cake will be as beautiful as mine.

Do not pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Do not grease or flour pans.

1. Before beginning your cake, plan it out in your head. Decide which flavor you want, what kind of icing, the style of decoration (you know, boy decorations, girl decorations, sports theme, etc.) You may want to jot down your ideas on a pad of paper, to jog your memory during the next step.

2. After careful planning, locate your telephone. This can be a cordless phone, rotary phone, cell phone - even a pay phone will work. This is a very versatile recipe.

3. Place a call to your local bakery. Perhaps your favorite grocery store has a bakery - this would work too. Make sure this isn't a long distance call - remember, if it's a long distance call, it's probably too far to drive to pick up your cake.

4. This step is where your notes come in. After connecting with a knowledgable bakery staff member, convey to them your deepest cake desires. Don't leave anything out - you may choose a 1/4 sheet cake, or a 1/2 sheet cake for heftier appetites. Your friendly baker will work with you to make sure you get the cake of your dreams.

5. After placing your order, you can now sit back and relax - maybe play on the computer, read a book or even view a favorite movie. Should you need to, set the timer on your oven to remind you when you should go to pick up your cake.

6. After picking up your lovely cake, be sure to remove it from the bakery box and display it on your own cake platter. Everyone should know that this is your cake, you created it, and by golly, you get the first bite!!

There - now that wasn't too complicated, was it? If you don't get it right the first time, just try again. After the first few attempts, you'll feel confident enough to have cake every day of the week!!
