I live a "filipino" life because I was born and raised in the Philippines for 9 years. I'm half chinese (my dad's pure chinese) and half filipino/spanish (my mom). I also have been mistaken for korean, vietnamese, japanese, chinese, and hawaiian because my eyes are slanted and I have fair skin. I use to have an issue when I first came to California about saying I was part chinese. I was the opposite of IMSCF. I was very proud to just be filipino. That was about 15 years ago when I thought that pure Filipinos were prettier than me (1/2chinese, 1/2 filipino). Now I'm 24 and I'm extremely proud to say exactly what I am chinese and all. I'm always excited to meet individuals that are exactly the same nationality as I am so when I found this site it was really interesting reading everyones opinions and also finding out more details and history of where I came from. I had no idea there was such a thing as IMSCF. It's also great to know that there are a lot of Chinese/Filipinos out there. My husband is black and I wonder if our 5 yr. old daughter is going to go through any issues of being so mixed.
