I am a Filipino Okie. My father is full blooded Filipino and my mother is a white woman who came to California from Ok. during the "Dust Bowl" era. My three sisters and two brothers are half-breeds the white's in the 1930's were afraid would invade the San Joaquin valley. We were born between 1947 - 1964 and have all grown up to be very sucessful citizens due to the way we were raised by our father. Papa Joe worked in the vineyards and orchards of central California until the day he suffered a stroke at 75 years old while working in the grape harvest.

We have never been ashamed to be part Filipino and neither has our father. In fact we are very proud of the fact and make sure that when asked, everyone knows we are Filipino.
