Harry: The Cal Poly mens club team won a national championship in the 1990's playing in the Rec Center...without a coach or publicity, playing in front of student crowd. We do have boy's volleyball in the area high schools and from the Bay Area to the Mexican border boys volleyball is played in grammar school leagues--long before are exposed to wrestling.

I agree. that at Cal Poly, it's has a long tradition with coaches like Harden and Hitchcock fielding championship teams. John Madden's teammate, fellow Hall of Famer Pat Lovell, represented the U.S. at the Olympics.

But men's volleyball would have a built-in rivalry with UCSB. In addition we could get USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Stanford, Cal, etc to come into our gym. Those schools feed most of our U.S. Olympic team.
