Many of you may know that I helped create the new Gaucho Loco board on the ezBoard network (http://pub217.ezboard.com/bucsbgauchos). ezBoards are used on The Insider's network (the Big West Boards, Fullerton, USU) although technically those are a subset of ezBoard. These aren't free--they take money to run depending on the number of hits received. The upside is that ezBoards have a "community chest" option that allows anyone to donate a few bucks with a credit card, PayPal or even check. The money doesn't go to the admins--it is paid to ezBoard and can't be used on anything but the board it was donated to. Donations can be made anonymously. The UCSB board opened on 7-1 and has generated $140 (besides the $10 I threw in at the beginning). That's enough for more than a year and a half of service even at very high hit levels. My best guess based on the sometimes slow traffic of this board is that it would take about $75 the first year and perhaps a little more than that later on.

The advantages of ezBoard are obvious to anyone who has used them. Check out the UCSB board and others for features.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is if you guys would like to move if I created a Cal Poly ezBoard. Would some of you be willing to pitch in $10 a year (or more if you'd like)? Is it worth it leaving this board, which has a decent following and many links pointing at it (this could stay as a backup with a pointer to the new board though)? I'd like to have an board old-timer (BMF? Stangman? Budman?) be an admin or moderator--anyone interested? Colin, I know you have the MM board set up on your own server but would you be interested in consolidating things on an ezBoard with several forums (FWIW, private invisible ones are possible there).

Opinions? Ideas? Yea? Nay? Speak up!
