You know, I didn't think so, but:

Check this out.

It looks like you have to get in there and hack away at the phpBB code for a bit, but the end result is that you view one message at a time within a thread. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to expand threads by default (i.e. only the topmost post in each thread appears on the forum page). However, it even includes the option to switch between flat view and threaded view, for users out there who like seeing all the posts at once.

I believe I will hack this into the RT board and see how it goes (I won't hack it into my own board cause it has too many posts already in it).
