Three Colleges Seeking to Inherit Meeks

Chris Meeks, a very athletic 6-3, 195 pound shooting/combo guard from Sheridan J.C. in Sheridan, Wyo., has three colleges pursuing him this spring.

Sheridan Head Coach Brian Marso told JUCO Junction that Meeks will likely visit Cal Poly SLO, the College of Charleston and Weber State before making a spring decision.

A native of Charlotte, N.C., Meeks is a qualifier out of high school who had sought to walk-on at Charlotte. However, when things didn't pan out with the 49ers, Meeks hit the JUCO circuit, spending a year at Independence C.C. in Kansas in 2001-2002 before transferring into Sheridan this past fall.

Meeks started 22 of 30 games for the Generals, averaging 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest. He shot 42 percent from the floor, 37 percent from beyond the three point arc and 78 percent from the charity stripe.

"Chris is very athletic and really hits the offensive glass," Marso said. "He can shoot the ball too, but he's more of a catch and shoot guy who doesn't create off the dribble."

Meeks plans on signing sometime during late signing period, which begins on Apr. 16. JUCO Junction will keep you abreast of any new information that comes to light on Meeks, so stay tuned.
