This whole transit, homeless, intinerant, hobo, gypsy, problem started about 5-10 years ago when some bored soccer moms, decided they wanted another "cause", and started taking peanut butter sandwiches down to the mission and handing them out. At this time santa barbara was also creating a "safe haven" for these folks and our own soccer moms felt compelled to follow suit. s.b. started experiencing the same problems we are today. The soccer moms after being chastised by the Mission people moved their sandwich distribution to a brand new facility south of town. So now the bums have to walk down there to eat and score drugs then walk back up town to find their spot in front of their favorite business, or grab a sign and go make wine money at the entrance to 101.

It is inhumane and uncaring to expect them them to walk down Higuera to get free food. In doing so we cause them great frustration and inconvenience, so when they get back up town they do not play well with others, hence they stab each other and screw with students to the point that the students attack them.

Just wondering....did you ever wonder how all these destitute people are able to each afford to raise a dog. Come on people wake up.
