Great win Mustangs! Your 10-7 Big West record is the best since joining the conference in 1996. The defense held UCR frosh guard Nate Carter to just 12 points. The morning Trib story by Brian Milne reminds us that "Carter torched the Mustangs for 30 in the first meeting."

Everyone should raise their nose guards to the sky for senior Diaby Kamara who tied his season high 14 points. "Including a thundering base-line dunk that gave Cal Poly a 61-48 lead..." Shane Shilling said, "Diaby's capable of doing that, it's just been frustrating because of his broken nose. He really came out of it tonight."

Everyone played. It was good to read that Mike Titchenal was in long enough to grab a rebound, foul twice and score two points on 1-4, 0-0 shooting. (At Cardinal Newman HS in Santa Rosa, Titch averaged 21.5 his senior year and .890 from the FT line, once making 30 straight.)

Others: Shilling was only 2-9, 1-2, Jason Allen 7-12, 0-0, Steve Geary 2-5, 2-2, Jered Patterson 3-6, 1-3, Eric Jackson 2-4, 0-1, Vlady grabbed a rebound, frosh Greg Nelson, 0-1, 0-0, James Grace 2-3, 0-0 and one RB, Fernando Sampson 0-0, 0-0, Phil Johnson 2-2, 0-0, suffered a cut on his nose and was held without a rebound? But the best game was by the big guy--Varney Dennis had 18 of his 21 points in the first half! Varney was 9-13, 3-5, with six rebounds and thinks we have a shot at winning the Big West and advancing to the Big Dance.

But did anyone notice that the Gauchos escaped from Foolerton with just a three point win? (63-60). We need Shilling to get hot Saturday to assure a good seed.

This Pismo bird couldn't hear the game on FM, but did watch the first half of Utah State's 69-58 drubbing of the Matadors. It wasn't shown on Fox Net 2, but on a digital Fox channel on Charter cable...including commercials for a Manhattan Beach car dealer. Wonder if Fox will bill them?
