Subject: Botticelli Vs. da Vinci

There are many differences between Botticelli and da Vinci's art. Botticelli uses bright colors while da Vinci uses darker hues to achieve a sfumato affect. It seems as Botticelli mostly uses mythological and human figures with the exception of Mary and Jesus in the Adoration of the Magi. da Vinci uses religious and human figures. Botticelli and da Vinci both use depth in their paintings but Botticelli knows how to give his characters life. He paints them in way to give the effect of movement. La Primavera and the Birth of Venus appeal to the eye and mind while Madonna of the Rocks and the Last Supper appeal to the soul.
