so far, i like the opera "carmen" much better than i liked "the magic flute." it's probably because the plot is much more down to earth, and has less fantastic elements, than "the magic flute" does. but the major factor influencing my opinion is carmen's voice; it is just beautiful. also, romance languages sound more beautiful than germanic languages when spoken, but especially, when sung.
