Subject: Violetta & Carmen

I feel Violetta and Carmen are very different from each other. Violetta seemed more like an imaginary character and Carmen more realistic. Many times people claim they're in "love" and then later find someone new, and now love them (just like Carmen). I don't think many people would sacrifice everything, and then make themselves live in sorrow for the rest of their lives over someone. If they really meant that much to you, I don't believe you would give them up for someone else's sake. In Violetta's case, her and Alfredo stay miserable, while Alfredo's sister and husband are happy. Violetta also seems much more dedicated to Alfredo, than Carmen was to Don Jose. Carmen was playing games with Don Jose until her dying day. Carmen was on a much lower status than Violetta. Gypsies were not wanted. I also feel Carmen's death wasn't as tragic as Violetta's, maybe because of Carmen's attitude the whole time. Though they both have the same format (wanted by many men, fall in "love" and then die), I feel they are very different characters.
