Carmen vs Violetta

Both Carmen and Violetta share similar problems regarding their relationships with men. The difference is the way in which they deal with these problems. Carmen decides to take the less rewarding of the routes. She is selfish in her decision-making and it hurts her in the long run. She doesn't think of the consequences from insisting in Don Jose's love, and she pays the ultimate price for it. Violetta on the other hand is more of a pacifist in her approach. Violetta understands the wall seperating herself with her love to be, and she regretfully accepts it. Another factor to keep in mind is the fact that although Violetta's job sends out a negative impression of her, she is equally if not probably more intelligent than Carmen. This may influence the way in which she deals with her romantic struggle.
