I totally disagree with Justine. I think its so much better to see an opera with original characters with their own personality traits rather than see an opera with poor rip-offs of another. One thing i do think is different though is the fact that at the end Musetta shows a change of heart and opens up to a "warm side" when she gives Marcello a pair of earrings to sell to get a doctor. Carmen was mean and heartless up until the end of the play and she would have never done anything like this for anyone but herself.
