I agree completely with Justine. I also found that the music in The Marriage of Figaro was much better. Rossini's music just doesn't seem to grab me. After watching The Marriage of Figaro I would find myself humming some of the songs to myself while I was walking around, but not with The Barber of Seville. Also, perhaps the reason that the storyline isn't as interesting to us, is perhaps because we already know exactly what will happen, and also we know that the Count and the Countess don't live "happily ever after." I think that as much as we try to put the facts in The Marriage of Figaro out of our minds as we watch this opera, we can't help but think about how much of a jerk the Count will become later on.
