Subject: Die Flatermous

Die Flatermous is turning out to be my favorite opera. In a way in reminds me of The Marriage of Figaro because of all the comedy, and love triangles. I especially enjoy the English dialect, even though it can be a little hard to follow since they go in and out of speaking different languages. I think Strauss may have went a bit to far when he put in the scene with Adele and Eisenstein meeting at the Prince's party, and acting like they didn't know who the other person was. It's one thing to look like someone, but to have Adele wear Rosalinde's dress, and look exactly like herself, there's no way that Eisenstein wouldn't know it was Adele, especially being that up close and personal to her. I thought that was a little to far fetched. Besides that one scene, I love this opera, and think it tops all the other ones we have seen.
