Subject: Hay's Code

It kind of amazed me in class the other day how many thought that it would be difficult to make interesting and entertaining movies that complied with the Hay's Code. It seems today that since practically every movie made has some form of explicit sex, violence, or language and we can't imagine a movie without it. I personally LOVE watching classic movies, and frankly I find most to be MORE entertaining that contemporary films. The Hay's Code, while when reading do seem extremely restrictive, and in a sense are, they simply forced studios to work harder to come up with interesting plots, quality dialogue (also due to the absence of special effects, which again most movies today rely heavily on), and ways to work around the restrictions of the Code. Again, just my two cents ; )
