Subject: Hays code and silent movies

I wanna say a few things about the Hay's code and also about silent films.

The Hay's code first of all. I kind of remember a few things I wanted to say in class but I didn’t get the chance to. As ive said the Hay's code all together is a little rediculous and at the same time it is very helpful. They are definatly going a little overboard toward the end but as Mr Fornale pointed out….if you don’t give too many rules people will find their way around them. I do think that they could be a great guide for movies today because all movies today do is glorify what is wrong with society. Teenage and premarital sex, drugs, violence, if its bad its in the world its in the movie. And the Hay's code prevents the golrification of the sin. It would help to restrict to how far the movie producers go. And another thing we talked about was if people would except the Hay's code and most people said no…..but I actually think differently. If you think about it in todays world….there are a lot of people out there….mainly parents who put many restrictions on things. Look at what the PTA does…they make rules for their kids to follow and things like that and people who are very politically correct. Im not sure though….. I was just thinking of examples of people who would actually like the Hay's code.

Another thing I wanted to comment briefly on the silent films. I never would have thought a movie without talking could be almost as good as a regular movie you see in the theater. I enjoyed the trouble charlie was getting into. It was like seeing a I Love Lucy film without voices. It is better than I thought.
