Subject: 20th Century Art

Is this really art? When I show this work to some of my friends they look at it and think some kid did some of the work in here. For example, Piet Mondrians New York City I. What is so good about that? I think the only talent that picture shows is that he knows how to use a ruler. Some of the paintings in here are horrible. I know some of you may have a totally different point of view on this and thats fine but if you want me to be able to accept this as "art" you got to put up a strong point. The late 20th Century Art got a little better and showed more work and artistic ability and caught my attention a little bit more. Do not get me wrong though, some of the other works in the Early and Middle 20th Century were ok. I look at them and say "wow" I wish I could do something like that. I hate to say it but most of the paintings look like people just spilled paint all over the place or maybe made a mistake and tried to make it something big. And if some of this work is acceptable to be studied upon I think anyone who takes art in our school and anyother school has a right to be in a book like this and be studied upon because I have seen them do work like this or even better. Something like the Yellow Sweater by Amedeo Modigliani I know people who can do that at least 100% better. Our standards for great art has really gone down in the past 100 or so years and that has to change. If it does not change we're really going to be in trouble because we will not have any "real" talent anymore and the information behind the art is going to be mostly made up. If someone has a different point of view I am welcome to hearing it but i do not think my ideas will change very much.
