Good good good, thank you for the advice :)
Hmm. Should I just reroll Sigh or start a new character altogether? *thinking about that one* I've hit a knot in her development, but I think that's mostly just because she never fights with anything with regular arrows; maybe I'll just have her pick up alchemy next, though.
Okay, well, here are my thoughts, but they're a bit unconventional because it's not what most people are doing right now...
You mention that Dobb is thinking about taking creature magic. He'll enjoy it, especially if he's never taken it before. :)
I don't though - Larq and Ilu both have it and life magic, and I actually DREAD casting/buffing cycles.
BUT
If I start with the higher focus as you've all explained, I've got arc lore covered. With the high quickness and coordination, I will have melee covered. So, with those two attributes being naturally high, I'll be able to afford a lot of protections (especially once I can wear the Sim until I can grow out of it). Something else, though, that would be very helpful, especially if I've put down the shield and dagger - and it would be very cheap to raise, as it's a function of quickness/coordination - is missile defense.
Brute Squad has it and it's very high. And it actually works for him; he DOES evade a lot of the big boulders, hollow and non, that do a lot of damage. AND, with the melee requirements and the arc requirements that he's able to fill, he can pick up high-level life and creature protects and armor that has missile requirements, too. This enables him to get a hold of things that make me shake my head, too, and for pretty decent trade values since missile is not valued very popular. And he's one of the best tanks that I know - and I *swear* I'm not just saying that because I'm biased - he really can take a beating.
I do like the idea of putting points into strength and endurance, as you've suggested, too. The strength will allow me to wear better armor at lower levels (I really like putting my new characters in GSA with a full set of the explorer jewelry to begin with, it takes the worry out) and the endurance will not peter out when I'm making the quick swings.
