Subject: Gold Coast chose mainly to run the ball instead of kick. Took away the intercept and slingshot game

Gold Coast were at their scintillating best against the Pies, in what one Fox Footy expert believes is the closest thing we’ve seen to Richmond’s flag-winning era under Damien Hardwick.

“It’s the closest thing we’ve seen to Richmond’s style, Damien Hardwick winning those three premierships,” Lions champion Jonathan Brown said during Fox Footy’s half-time coverage.

“Their ability to move the ball was great… they’ve been able to work the ball nicely from one end of the ground to the other by hand.”

Fox Footy commentator Alistair Lynch said: “The handball game from the Suns has been first class”.

“It feels like it’s a really mature win,” Hawthorn champion Jordan Lewis agreed.

Collingwood coach Craig McRae praised the opposition’s ability to outnumber and work hard around the ground.

“They had the outnumber, every time the ball left the area there was three of them and one of us,” he said.

“We need to work harder… our connection inside 50 was a little bit off.”
