And again, I think he already adds value to the side. I'm a fan. But I don't think that precludes people assessing the value of the trade.
There were three issues for me at the time of the trade. One was that I thought that we paid way overs. Secondly, I was concerned that we have given away a lot of first round picks over the last decade or so. The club has acknowledged this.
The third was that, if we were going to get rid of another first round pick, I would have preferred we address a more pressing need e.g. key position or inside mid.
That was my position then and it hasn't changed. We still played overs. We still need to stop giving away first round picks and we still have the same holes in our list.
