Subject: 'operator error'?? funnily enough that draft (2013) unearthed the current double Charlie winner
In reply to: Pyeman WPBD 's message, "The last time the club had 2 top ten picks they were used on Scharenberg and Freeman so" on 17:26 24/09/24 Tue

pick 6 Matty Schara
pick 10 Nayfe Freeman
pick 13 Crippa

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
in fact, if you look at the first 13 picks that year, there's a strong argument to be made that 'operator error' was in fact the glaring problem that led to those back-to-back Pies draft FAILS whilst most other 'operators' capitalised in earnest

#1 Tom Boyd (SUCCESS): 61 games, Bulldogs Premiership player & pivotal in GF; retired prematurely bc couldn't handle big price tag when traded down from GWS

#2 Josh Kelly (SUCCESS): 215 games at GWS, still playing

#3 Jack Billings (SUCCESS): 171 games at StK/Melb; still playing

#4 Marcus Bontempelli (SUCCESS): 241 at Bulldogs; Premiership player & current captain; GUN

#5 Kade Kolodjashnij (FAIL): 80 games at GCS /Melb; retired 2019

#6 Matthew Scharenberg (FAIL): 41 games in 5 years at Pies; dogged by leg / feet injuries; leg/feet injuries present prior to being drafted

#7 James Aish (SUCCESS): 183 games at Bris, Coll, Freo; still playing

#8 Luke McDonald (SUCCESS): 203 games over 11 seasons at Nth Melb; uber consistent & should be given a medal just for his loyalty; still playing

#9 Christian Salem (SUCCESS): 176 games at Melb; Premiership player; still playing

#10 Nathan Freeman (FAIL): 0 games at Pies over 2 years; 2 games at StK over 3 years; chronic & ongoing hammy issues; not aware if he had hammy issues prior to being drafted

#11 Dom Sheed (SUCCESS): 165 games at WCE; Premiership player ('pric); still playing

#12 Ben Lennon (FAIL): 21 games over 4 season at Rich. Richmond's recruiting, at the time, was a basket case

#13 Patrick Cripps (SUCCESS): 207 games; double Brownlow medallist; club captain; still playing
