It's not just about how far it is from goal to goal.

For example, consideration has to be given to the fact each corner of the centre square at the SCG is approximately 2 metres closer to the boundary than what it is at the MCG. That makes the flanks very congested. Do away teams adjust for this 'tightness' by moving the ball out of defence / into attack in a more central way to open the game up? Does this increase risk? Or, do they instead adjust and attempt to deal with the smaller space?

For the Swans, their congestion game simply doesn't work as well in that area of the ground at the MCG because there is more space for the opposition to spread.
