It’s hard to compare an era where Carlton Richmond and Hawthorn used the checkbook and Form 4s to bring in the best talent in the country to win multiple flags to the current draft system. We were too busy infighting through the 70s and 80s and run like a family pizza business. Meanwhile , our enemies were run like multi National corporations . Having said that - as much as it’s probably time for a change- dekka held his own as a recruiting boss . Despite his penchant for back flankers, big bodied mids (Shackleton Sier ) and project talls. He must have done something right to win us a couple of flags . Let’s hope the new team deliver more - we all want a team that wins multiple flags like the Hawks Tigers Lions Cheats have done over the years
