Most teams have several forward marking targets eg last yrs Premiers Danaher , Rayner and Lohman

Point 2
In any viable CFC set up we need a mix of Talls who can present and smalls to crumb

Almost unforgivably 178 cm Billy Elliot ( who would — imho— have been a star midfielder if played there ) has been consistently used as a marking target for most of his career , beside the strong but undersized Checkers .


Point 3
Ash has the tools to be the main man in front of goals ….leap, judgment , mobility , footy nous and he is a beautiful kick . Answer this does the bloke who played FF in Sept 2023 have that mix ?
My answer - no
In fact he played a negating role on the champion fb and his own possession tally at the end of the match was 1 touch iirc
What Ash lacks are three things
Consistent determination, self motivation and application
Some decent defensive input and most importantly
A large dash of hunger to help the team

Some players mature much later than others . Ash Johnson has freakish abilities which we see too infrequently . Fingers crossed 2025 might see the penny drop .
