went to Carlton he instilled that hatred of us further if it wasn't already there.
Some Melbourne players would have been celebrated as immortals having won 4, 5 or 6 flags in a row which I doubt would have ever been equalled again.

Some interesting Grand Final facts : --

Only 2 clubs have played in 7 Grand Finals in a row --
Melbourne 1954 to 1960 ( winning 3 in a row 1955/56/57 and 2 in a row 1959/60 giving them 5 in 7 years )Currently on 13 flags.
Hawthorn 1983 to 1989 ( winning 2 in a row 1988/89 plus 1983 & 86 giving them 4 in 7 years ) Currently on 13 flags.
An interesting stat is that Melbourne won 11 of their 13 flags before Hawthorn won their first in 1961.

Only 2 clubs have played in 6 Grand Finals in a row --
Collingwood 1925 to 1930 ( winning 4 in a row 1927/28/29/30 still the VFL / AFL record for most consecutive flags )Currently on 16 flags
Essendon 1946 to 1951 ( winning 2 in a row 1949/50 plus 1946 )Currently on 16 flags.

Only 3 clubs have played in 5 Grand Finals in a row --
Carlton 1906 to 1910 ( winning 3 in a row 1906/07/08 their best winning sequence ) Currently on 16 flags.
Collingwood 1935 to 1939 ( winning 2 in a row 1935/36 our last long sequence till 3 Grand Finals in a row 1979/80/81 with no flags )
North Melbourne 1974 to 1978 ( winning their first in 1975 and then 1977 in the replay against us ) Currently on 4 flags.

There are plenty of 4 and 3 in a row grand Finals but the worst results for multiple Grand Final appearances would be --
South Melbourne in the period 1933 to 1936 for 1 flag from 4 consecutive Grand Finals. They won 3 flags when they played as South Melbourne 1908/18/33.
Richmond in the period 1927 to 1934 for 2 flags from 7 Grand Final appearances --- 3 GF in a row 1927/28/29 for 3 defeats by the Pies and 4 GF in a row from 1931 to 1935 for 2 flags in 1932/34. They missed the 1930 Grand Final. Currently on 13 flags.

Go Pies !!
