Subject: A lot? You really just mean Hawthorn & Geelong don't you?

The problems as I see it:

COLLINGWOOD
They have 2 major problems - the media & the president.
The media actively work to derail Collingwood. As a result you get the season opening drug 'scandal' when there wasn't one compared to the Swan getting caught with the stuff or even Stokes for that matter. Hodge drink driving - no dramas. Didak & Heath Shaw drink driving - Collingwood over react & suspend them for the rest of the season frightened of their public perception. Hawthorn just don't give a stuff & Hodgey wins another flag.

The president is a really big problem. Collingwood were knocking on the door of sustained quality but he allowed his ego & sense of romance to over-ride what should have been a pure football decision and made a total mess of things that continues to this day. The fact that he is too stubborn to do anything about it is quite damning. Eddie has been there for about 16 years for just 1 flag. At some point, just being filthy rich becomes irrelevant.

RICHMOND
They suffer from the media onslaught too. I don't believe that years of getting smashed both on & off field has impacted this current list though. I said at the start of the season that they have plateaued. The socialism of the league meant they simply couldn't improve on 2015. They had to recruit somebody like a Treloar but they don't seem to be able to poach young talent for whatever reason.

Another thing, both Richmond & Collingwood have metrosexual captains. "Follow me on Instagram" - give me a break!

CARLTON
They have lost all identity & are still suffering from Malthouse's reign of terror. Eddie Betts don't grow on trees. They should be over it by next year though although calling Etihad their home ground shows how important they aren't.

Hawthorn are a fascinating club. To lose Buddy, Roughie & Lake & have two shit trucks for rucks yet still not miss a beat probably says more about the competition than it does the Hawks.
