In the case of having all able to participate in the application process of being on the court then all locals should be done by the second week of January or the girls that have already been on the court maybe give the other girls a chance at being on the court. But, that saying the Miss NC winner comes from the court of 8 is just a saying. For, kicks and giggles let’s just see if the new Miss NC will comes from the elite 8. Bottom line…. I absolutely believe the winner this summer will have been on Azalea this year or last year again as I said before. And not because they were chosen but because they are good enough to make it that far on the stage. I’m not a person who places bets but I would put money on it this go around. A few that will be in top 10 were on court last year and a few that are on court this year will be in top 10. The winner will be one of those young ladies. If not I’ll be quick to support the winner. I’m a supporter of the program and side note I don’t have a horse in the race. Do you know what it takes to find venues and all the things it takes to being a pageant together? Seems like Gastonia and Statesville were usually among the first. Everything for the season was pretty much wrapped up before Christmas, except the opens. ….. Especially since Miss NC releases its titleholders after the state pageant. You have access to all those contestants as well as anyone new you have recruited throughout the year and by having your pageant in the Summer you truly get the service of a queen for the year. The challenge I see is that Miss NC franchises aren't awarded until the end of July but all these things can change, because they have to. Miss America is changing as well. Now, waiting until January or February just means the director has a short window with their queen.
