Shadow picked her way down the path with cautious, wavering paws. Her home, her packland- Arctic Land- had disintegrated. The members had scattered and she could find no trace of the once-noble land. West Wing had always had a reputation for being a beauteous, compassionate place. Hopefully their Alpha would allow her egress from protocol. She felt alone, miserable and abandoned. Her alignment caused her to prefer seeking refuge with Ice Tundra but the alphess there had disappeared as well. Perhaps, once she had found there to be still another pack in existence, she would return there.

All that she needed was another soul to speak with, and a safe place to rest her weary bones. The smells here were just as stale as those in the Neutral territories, with only the lingering aroma of another female. Hopefully the alpha- hopefully not from months past.

She threw back her head and let out a long, low howl.

Hello?

The branches of an old, dead willow tree brushed against her silvery back, making her jump. Twigs beneath her paws snapped and a flock of birds fluttered into the golden sky.

...Hello?
