++ The nudge made the ribby pup startle a bit, but instead of jumping he merely lifted his head to the female. He sniffled and rubbed his paw over his dirty face, then spoke again, quietly.++

"We were hunting...that's the only time I saw my mommy hunt. I was trying to learn, and we weren't paying attention....it was my fault. There were 2 legged things there, and no one saw that they had fire. Everything burned....somehow I ran until one of the 2 legged things found me. They took me to a place that looked kind of like this, but made of trees. I stayed there, and when I wasn't sick anymore, they let me go....so I ran. I smelled this place...it smelled like the fire, but it's a different place. I was chased out of so many places, and bitten and clawed. No one wanted me near. Eventually I just started running, and not stopping at all....but I hit my head and had to stop here. I can leave as soon as you want me to ma'am."

++His eyes glistened while he looked at the female-- she looked so familiar to him...and her nudge was such a comfort to the little one.++
