What could be better at the end of a hot summer weekend than a chance for your Newf to play on the beach and swim in the Chesapeake Bay? A bluegrass concert following it, that's what, allowing time for your dog to dry and socialize with the crowd, and for you to relax and enjoy the music.

Meet at 3pm at the Dog Beach (not the Main Beach like last time) at the northeast corner of beautiful Downs Park , 8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena, MD 21122. The concert follows at 5pm. Everything is close by and an easy walk from adequate parking.

Even when it's stifling everywhere else, a refreshing breeze comes off the bay, making it comfortable even when temps are well into the 90's. There are miles of paved trails through the woods and a snack wagon provides hotdogs, hamburgers, BBQ, drinks and snowballs for reasonable prices. The park does have a $4 admission charge, but it's well worth it for all this and real bathrooms, too.
