Heck, yes! I think the colleges should regard their old football equipment (helmets especially, of course) as historical artifacts to be carefully preserved for the benefit of future generations. I hope this website may persuade at least some people in a position to do something to think in a similar manner.

I wish there were librarians or archivists who would meet with the football coach and say, "got any old helmets you're going to replace this year? Can we keep one of last year's for the school archives?"

I've had this idea of writing an essay on this subject for years, but I never get around to actually working on it.
