Subject: Cleveland Browns

Some sources indicate that the Cleveland Browns may have briefly worn an interlocking "CB" logo on their helmets during the early 1960s, but it appears almost certain that these were never worn during any game; I have certainly never seen even a single photograph showing such a helmet design in use during an actual game.

I remember as a kid getting miniature helmets from a gumball machine and the Browns' helmet had the 'CB' logo sticker.

If I remember the story correctly the Browns did intend to begin using a "CB" logo one year, but there was widespread opposition to the plan (from either players on the team, or fans) and the plan was abandoned. But this happened after various merchandise had already been produced showing the new logo.

I don't recall ever seeing a photograph of an actual football helmet with the logo (and certainly never during a game), and I know that other people have looked into the matter much more aggressively than I have done, so I'm quite convinced it was never actually used.
