Subject: 1984 Baptist University of America (Small College Defunct)

THis is an extremely hard to track down team.

This was a school that had a team from roughly 1977-1986.

The school shut down in 1987. They were located in Decatur, GA and played a lot of smaller NAIA and D-III Schools fromt he area.

They were known as the Eagles.

Thanks, I had not heard of that one before, which leads me to think it may have been a club-level team, or perhaps a non-NCAA and non-NAIA team, though that's by no means certain.

But I did locate two yearbooks for the school, and there are some nice photographs in the 1985 yearbook!

Pages 8 and 9. Red helmets with the team names 'Eagles' in blue with white outlines; looks like the Brush Script font used by many teams.

I would definitely add this one to the website if it could be ascertained that they were an NAIA or NCAA member, or a 'countable opponent' for either (but not sure if there were any such classification in plane).

The football team seems to be entirely absent from the 1986 yearbook, suggesting that 1984 may have been the team's last year.

It looks like the team last from 1981-84

Partial records exist though there are games listed in 77 and 88 (The school was opened the 60s but moved to Goergia in the early 80s, not sure why there's a game from 1988 when the school shut down)

Also note the first article mentions they were affiliated with the National Christian College Athletic Association Similar to the Trinity Bible College team that was unaffiliated but countable for years.

I assume they were countable since that really didn't become a thing for schools till the late 2010s and the College of Faith scandal.
