I was afraid this would happen. Birmingham-Southern dodged that bullet last summer.

Birmingham-Southern is the third Alabama-based private college to close since 2018. Concordia College-Selma shut down in 2018, and Judson College closed two years later. Stillman College nearly shut down in 2012 before a last-minute fund fusion from the Presbyterian Church USA kept the doors open. And the state's community college system assumed control of Marion Military Institute from its private operators. Why the state couldn't help the other private institutions like they did MMI is beyond me.
